performance fee
due january 1st
The end of our dance season at Contemporary Dance & Fitness Studio culminates in a weekend of performances at the Barre Opera House. Dancers experience what it’s like to perform on a professional stage, complete with costumes, light design, music, and a stage manager. It’s a magical experience that will be remembered for a lifetime. In order to support the magic, CD&FS will be implementing a performance fee for the 2025-2026 Season. We will offer an All-Inclusive Fee with performance perks, and also offer a Non-Inclusive Performance Fee as an option for families whose dancers want to participate in the performance but do not want to pay the All-Inclusive Fee.

faq:
How does this year's performance fee differ from last year?
In the 2024–2025 season, performance fees varied depending on whether a dancer was enrolled in ballet, since the most expensive costume was included in the fee. This year, costume fees will be billed separately, and we’ve lowered our performance fees to reflect that change. We hope this update will simplify the process and help families better understand what performance fees cover.
Families who would prefer to opt for the Non-Inclusive fee option must notify the studio before January 1st, when performance fees are due.
Is the performance fee per family or per student?
Per family.
When are fees due?
I want my dancer to perform, but need more time for payment. Can I set up a payment plan?
Yes. Contact us before January 1st to set up a plan for the performance fee, and/or February 1st for a plan for costume fees.
Can I order more T-shirts?
Yes! If you would like more than one t-shirt you may pre-order or purchase during production week. Additional T-shirts with the All-Inclusive Fee are $15. T-shirts and tote bags are also available for general sale for $25.
Which streaming links will I receive with the All-Inclusive Fee?
All of them! Streaming links will be $20/per show, for those without the All-Inclusive Fee.
Why has the costume fee increased?
Costume companies have steadily increased their prices over the years, and CD&FS' costume fees have not kept pace with that increase. Costumes that we used to purchase for $49.95, are now being priced at $64.95 - $74.95. This only reflects the price of the costume itself, and does not include any shipping fees or return/exchanges fees. It also does not include staff pay for measuring, sizing, ordering, and organizing costumes.
Why is there a new administrative and staffing fee?
In previous years, CD&FS teachers and staff volunteered their time leading up to the show, during production week, dress rehearsals, and during performance. Asking artists to work for free is no longer the industry standard. The administrative fee and staffing fee ensures that all employees are paid appropriately for their time.
My dancer is in Teen Jazz or Junior Company, do I still have to pay these fees?
Yes. Your inclusive monthly tuition fee for the Company covers all Company-related rehearsals, performances, and costumes. This fee covers performance fees for your student's regular weekly classes.
Are tickets included in the performance fee?
No. This year, all ticket sales will be sold through the Barre Opera House website. Ticket sales directly pay for renting the Opera House for our production week and performances, the lighting designer, the sound tech, additional technical staff, and the house manager.
My dancer has changed their mind and will no longer be performing, or I forgot to opt for the Non-Inclusive Fee. Can the performance fee be refunded?
No, we can not offer refunds for performance fees. Please make sure to notify the studio before January 1st if your dancer has decided not to perform. Those with the All-Inclusive Fee will still receive their t-shirt, tote bag, and performance videos if they wish.
