Placement for our youngest Ballet dancers is based on age as well as maturity and skill level. If you are a new student, call the studio for assistance in choosing the appropriate level. Our Pre-Primary Ballet class is designed for young dancers aged 3.5 to 5 years old. This fun and engaging class introduces children to the basics of ballet in a playful and nurturing environment. Through imaginative play, music, and simple movements, children will develop coordination, balance, and motor skills. The class focuses on fostering a love for dance, encouraging creativity, and building confidence.

Repetition is the foundation of Primary Ballet. Each class begins with strengthening the creative and improvisational muscles all children posses. Then the dancers will move into a formal center barre warm-up, across the floor ballet locomotion, and finish with a free dance. Learning to wait, watch, and appreciate each other is emphasized along side proper alignment.

Ballet 1 is designed specifically for young dancers 6 - 8 years old who are beginning their journey into the world of ballet. This introductory class focuses on developing basic ballet technique, fostering a love for dance, and building a solid foundation in a fun and supportive environment. Students will develop their understanding of basic ballet positions at the barre, learn to count music while moving in time with the beat, and explore self-expression - all while building confidence.

Ballet 2 is for young dancers ages 7 to 8. This class builds on the fundamental techniques learned in Ballet 1 but is also open to students new to dance. Class begins with warm-up exercises to prepare the body for ballet movements, followed by barre exercises to practice fundamental techniques and build strength. Center floor exercises will work on balance, coordination, and movement across the floor.
In addition to technique, dancers will explore various musical timing and rhythms, developing their ability to interpret and respond to different pieces of music. Classes will finish with opportunities for improvisation and creative expression within structured ballet exercises. Dancers will be encouraged to share their individualism to help build confidence and stage presence.

Our Ballet 5 class is a neo-classical ballet class for dancers aged 11 and older ready to advance their ballet training. This class focuses on increasing knowledge of ballet terminology and theory while mastering more complex barre and center combinations. Class begins with a comprehensive warmup to ensure the body is ready for movement. At the barre, dancers focus on precision, proper alignment, and control. Dancers are asked to connect the concepts we work on at barre to the movements we perform later in class. In center work, students will explore rhythm, artistry, and ease of movement. During traveling combination and allegro work, dancers increase their spatial awareness, play with diverse musical rhythms and timing, develop stage presence, and enhance performance quality.

Students will delve into their artistry and musicality while being exposed to classical variations, guest teachers, and ballet history.

At CD&FS we take our responsibility for safely training pointe students very serious. Before being placed en pointe, dancers must complete and pass our pointe preparation and maintenance course. Throughout the year we will work on feet and ankle strength and flexibility, placement, core strength, and balance.

Pointe 4 classes also have a focus on quality of movement and grace.
