Placement for our Jazz classes for our younger dancers is based on age as well as maturity and skill level. If you are a new student, call the studio for assistance in choosing the appropriate level. Junior Jazz 1-2 is an introduction to jazz dance for the young dancer: Through center work and traveling exercises students will learn basic jazz steps and terminology with a focus on proper technique and alignment. This class is designed to increase body awareness, coordination, flexibility and rhythm with all the fun and energy of jazz for kids!
Junior Jazz 3-4 is a continuation of concepts presented in Jr Jazz 1-2. Choreography is more challenging and combinations are longer.

Jazz 2-3 will build on your knowledge of Jazz dance and its roots through Vernacular, Classical, and Commercial Jazz styles. Warm-up and center work will strengthen and stretch your body and prepare you for across-the-floor exercises, which will grow your knowledge of Jazz dance steps and styles, play with rhythm, and progress through kicks, turns, and jumps/leaps. Combinations will be taught to bring everything you learned together and allow you to practice your performance skills as you prepare to learn choreography for the end-of-year performance.
